Grip on communication with working in MS Teams

The loss of personal contact due to a lot of working from home can cause employees to lose control, as was clear from Anneke van der Kuip's article earlier. For employees to regain control, a communication platform focused on online social interaction is key. Microsoft has developed a platform with Teams that - among many other things - enables remote social interaction.

Working transparently

Teams enables transparent working, which creates insight and awareness among employees. Insight and awareness lead to a higher level of knowledge, allowing - together with stakeholders - decisions to be made more effectively. The more transparent the developments within a company, the easier effective cooperation becomes.

Microsoft Teams is the collaboration tool that brings together all the components of Office365. It can be seen as the Hub of Office365. This is also directly the strength of Teams; it uses almost all components in one tool. Thereby, collaboration in the form of online communication is central, coupled with document storage.

The benefits:

  • One place to collaborate digitally
  • Reduction of mail as all communication goes through teams
  • Less travel through digital meetings
  • Working together in one document
  • Anytime, anywhere access to your team's information

This is a different approach to when, for example, documents are on a shared drive and the conversation about them is held in endless email conversations. The purpose of Teams is therefore to create an open collaborative atmosphere. Anyone within the Team can get involved in the conversations going on. Even external parties can be added to a Team, if desired. Think of a supplier or customer in a partnership.

Conversations are conducted with emotion

The whole use of Teams is about the conversation. A conversation is conducted with emotion, intonation and humour. For this, Teams offers a generous amount of emoticons, GIFs and memes. At first glance, this functionality may not seem useful, but it is an important tool to make online communication better. In fact, the use of emoticons, GIFs and memes creates an informal atmosphere, which only enhances group spirit and productivity. Precisely those two things are very important to keep employees hooked in this digital era.

In short, a proper implementation of Microsoft Teams helping companies to maintain social contact and collaborate effectively despite working from home a lot at the moment.
