ICE and Truewind are betting on a strategic partnership specifically focused on the utility sector. Truewind is an established global solution provider in the IT field and a leading OutSystems partner. Marcel van Staa (ICE) and Ruud Hochstenbach (Truewind) zoom in on the joining of forces.
Why this initiative?
Marcel: "In fact, it is simple. What we lack is IT development capacity for customised projects. What Truewind does not have is in-depth knowledge of the utility sector. In this collaboration, we complement each other to do appropriate customisation projects with clients in a 'golden triangle'."
Ruud: "In the utility sector, customised IT solutions are in high demand. In many situations, a standard package cannot be pulled off the shelf. With the OutSystems platform, we can create fully-fledged customer-oriented IT solutions faster. OutSystems is proven technology in the market that a significant proportion of utilities are already using."
What need do you see?
Marcel: "There is a need for the one-stop-shop approach of a specialised party with knowledge of utilities, laws and regulations, plus IT implementation power. In this sense, we are complementary. ICE has the long-standing sector knowledge and network, and Truewind brings the experience to build IT applications faster than with traditional coding."
Ruud: "In that environment, Truewind is a reliable partner in ICE's portfolio. This combination allows us to make a better and faster translation of needs into an IT solution."

What does this mean for both parties?
Ruud: "We have been working together for some time. But ICE and Truewind both want to grow in the Benelux. It is clear that we can start strengthening each other more and more."
Marcel: "For ICE, this is definitely going to have an impact. Good management is an important component of a successful project. This is where we want to take steps by, among other things, sitting on the necessary Steering Committees ourselves."
How will the cooperation take shape?
Marcel: "Our ambition is to carry out projects in addition to consultancy, based on our vision to be Trusted Advisor. We want to do projects together that create a win-win-win situation."
Ruud: "The great thing is that we look at the whole spectrum that runs from traditional processes and systems to everything needed for the energy transition for which there are no standard applications (yet), plus the integration of those systems. Think of network companies and energy suppliers that need to transform from SAP R3 to S4HANA and want to quickly develop new functionality and applications.
Think also of customised solutions for billing, reconciliation, meter reading apps, EV solutions, et cetera. Very interesting is the processing and insight into new data flows at the intersection of PV and Sales. There is all sorts of things we want to sink our teeth into."
